Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has arrived in court in London for the latest hearing ahead of his fraud criminal trial later this year. Ecclestone, 92, served as F1 CEO, stepping down when Liberty Media took control of the series in late 2016, being given the title ‘chairman emeritus’. United Kingdom tax authorities His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have alleged that Ecclestone failed to declare more than $400 million held in a trust fund in Singapore. He faces one case of fraud by false representation between June 2013 and October 2016, and although he is yet to enter a plea, it is expected Ecclestone is to plead not guilty. He was joined at the pre-trial hearing at London’s Southwark Crown Court by wife Fabiana, with the hearing being overseen by Mr Justice Bryan. The trial has been set for November 16, 2023 with a further hearing set for June 2023, with Ecclestone remaining on bail.
