Max Verstappen began the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix weekend on the right note by fronting the times in the opening practice session.
The triple World Champion led the way with a time of 1:19.718s, 0.095s ahead of Williams’ Alex Albon, who split the two Red Bulls.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were fourth and sixth respectively for McLaren, Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari slotting in between them.
Carlos Sainz in the sister Ferrari was seventh, ahead of AlphaTauri’s Daniel Ricciardo, Alpine’s Esteban Ocon and the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll.
