Max Verstappen has claimed pole position for Sunday’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos, prevailing in a rain-hit Q3 session.

The arrival of rain midway through Q3 meant the top 10 drivers only got one Soft tyre run in, with Verstappen leading Charles Leclerc by 0.294s.

Aston Martin have locked out the second row, with Lance Stroll leading Fernando Alonso. The two Mercedes cars were next, Lewis Hamilton ahead of George Russell.

Lando Norris could only manage seventh, while team-mate Oscar Piastri went off and didn’t set a time. Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez split the McLaren drivers.
