Carlos Sainz was able to convert pole position into victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, becoming the first driver to dislodge Red Bull from the top step this season.
The Spaniard finished ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris, surviving a late challenge from both Mercedes drivers who made an extra pitstop under Virtual Safety Car in the closing stages of the race.

George Russell looked to challenge for the race win, but a brush with the walls resulted in disaster and his Mercedes in the barriers on the final lap. His misfortune promoted Lewis Hamilton to the podium.
Charles Leclerc was able to hold off Max Verstappen for fifth on a weekend where Red Bull have, for the first time all season, looked fallible.

Lance Stroll did not start the race following his qualifying crash on Saturday. Yuki Tsunoda retired on Lap 1 after picking up a puncture, while Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas both suffered mechanical issues.
