Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack has detailed owner Lawrence
Stroll’s reaction to the mid-season slump in form the team has
experienced. Following a run of six podiums in the first eight
races, Aston Martin’s competitiveness took a dive in the summer and
into autumn as upgrade packages did not quite work as intended.
However, the team did return to the podium in Sao Paulo, with a
three-five result being its best since a three-four in Australia
with Fernando Alonso hauling all eight podiums in the season. Lance
Stroll endured a torrid run of form, but has recently shown flashes
of pace as the team looks to end the season strong, with an outside
bet of claiming fourth in the Constructors’, being just 19 points
behind McLaren. Lawrence Stroll has poured money into the team,
including a brand-new factory, with Krack explaining his reaction
to the up and down season from the Silverstone squad. Lawrence
Stroll’s reaction “Lawrence is not happy, but we are not happy
either,” Krack told media including RacingNews365 before the
apparent return to form in Brazil. ‘Nobody is happy when you have
such a great start to the season, and then lose competitiveness,
but we don’t need [Lawrence] to tell us, but we also have to accept
that he is not [happy]. “It is the situation that we are in, we are
a strong team, and have to work collaboratively, and be open-minded
to get out of it. “But we are not too proud to make any decisions,
and there is no bug in the system. “We analyse our data, try to
understand which areas we have weaknesses in and try to improve
them.”
