Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen is seeking to score his second win in three races so far in 2023, after the Dutchman took pole position for today’s Australian Grand Prix. Verstappen will be looking to extend his advantage over teammate Sergio Perez, who had a torrid Qualifying session, running wide at Turn 3 and beaching his Red Bull in the gravel trap before he had set a representative lap time. After being due to start from 20th and last place on the grid, component changes to the Red Bull RB19 means the Mexican starts today’s race from the pit lane, along with Valtteri Bottas. Behind Verstappen, the twin Mercedes of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will line up second and third on a better weekend for the Silver Arrows. In the blog, we will provide you with the latest developments during the race in Australia. You can easily switch between live timing and the live blog via the tabs.
