Helmut Marko does not believe that Sergio Perez encountered the same technical issue that hampered his difficult free practice three Formula 1 session. Perez endured a difficult Saturday, which began with mechanical problems with his RB19 in FP3, which resulted in off-track moments in the session before qualifying. The Mexican’s car underwent numerous changes ahead of qualifying, but the Saudi Arabian GP winner ran wide into the gravel trap on his first flying lap of qualifying, retiring from the session. Perez believed that he was still facing the same brake balance issues that occurred earlier in the day, but this was countered by Red Bull’s Motorsport Advisor Marko, who believed the more likely cause was the tricky low-grip conditions of the Albert Park Circuit. “We had a problem with the engine braking in FP3,” commented Marko to Servus TV . “Under braking, we didn’t get the right adjustment. Because of that, Sergio was unsettled, there was understeer. “There was a little push from the engine, but [Perez’s issue in qualifying] wasn’t like the practice sessions.
