MotoGP has unveiled an expanded in-season test schedule for 2024 ahead of the planned introduction of a new Michelin front tyre for 2025.

Series organisers Dorna revealed the test calendar, expanded from two in-season days to three to help Michelin gather more data on the new front tyre, on Tuesday following the Thai Grand Prix.

The shakedown test at Sepang in Malaysia will go ahead from the 1st to the 3rd of February, before the first official test of the season takes place at the same venue the following week between the 6th and 8th of the same month.

The pre-season testing program will be completed with a two-day run in Qatar across the 19th and 20th of February before the season opener at the Lusail International Circuit in early March. This differs from 2023, when the final pre-season test took place at the Algarve International Circuit ahead of the opening Portuguese GP due to the Qatar track undergoing renovations.

Subsequent to this there will be three in-season days for all teams and riders to participate. The first will follow the Spanish GP at Jerez on the 29th of April, while another day of running at Mugello, a new venue to host a test outing, will take place after the Italian GP at Mugello on the 3rd of June.

The final in-season test day will take place as usual at Misano on the ninth of September. The 2024 testing schedule will be concluded with the traditional post-season Valencia test, which will occur just after the curtain-closing Valencia GP in mid-November.
