Sergio Perez is sure that it is “just a matter of time” before he
can start to deliver his best results for Red Bull following his
drop in form. Perez had a rocky stretch of races across Singapore,
Japan and Qatar scoring only five points while also retiring from
his home race in Mexico City. The United States and Sao Paulo
Grands Prix were rewarded with fourth-place finishes as he looks to
seal runner-up in the Drivers’, with the Mexican pinpointing where
a breakthrough in understanding where he was going wrong happened.
Perez does look set to secure second to team-mate Max Verstappen in
the championship, now leading Lewis Hamilton by 32 points with just
52 left on the board, with the place able to be secured if he
out-scores Hamilton by six points in Las Vegas. Perez keen to
bounce back “The pace has been there for the last few weekends, but
for some reason or another, we haven’t been able to put it all
together,” Perez told media including RacingNews365. “I think it is
just a matter of time before it will come, [Brazil] was a good
weekend for the championship, because we are getting closer to
second spot. “So now let’s look forward to Vegas, and it is just a
matter of time before we are able to show what we have got. “After
Qatar, when I went back to the team, we understood a lot of things
that we were doing wrong. “Since then, Austin was a compromised
weekend, but even Mexico was quite good, I mean, I went off, but I
was very close to the lead, so we are really making progress.”
